NTEU Chapter 173
Chapter President Robert HollandGreetings, esteemed members of Chapter 173,
I trust this message finds you well. It is with great humility that I, Robert Holland, extend my sincere gratitude to you for granting me the privilege of assuming the role of President within our Chapter. This appointment is an honor I hold in the highest regard.
Throughout the course of the past 13 years, our collaborative journey within the union has yielded remarkable and impactful results. It is my aspiration to build upon this legacy of accomplishment as we move forward. For those among us who may not be acquainted with my background, allow me to provide an overview of my experiences and the motivations that led me to seek the presidency of Chapter 173.
I approach this responsibility with utmost seriousness and a deep understanding of its implications. I am committed to safeguarding the rights of every member within our chapter. My dedication to this role is unwavering, rooted in the belief that each individual deserves to be treated with the utmost dignity and respect. I am steadfast in the conviction that respect is not simply a given; it must be earned, irrespective of one's role or responsibilities.
Over the span of the past 13 years, I endeavor to have earned your respect through my actions and commitment. Moving forward, I am acutely aware that I must continue to strive for your respect with unwavering dedication. Throughout my tenure in this capacity, notable achievements have already come to fruition. Among these accomplishments are achieving 90% AWS at the Land Border and an impressive 100% at the Airport. Additionally, we have successfully implemented Live Bids for both BRP and Annual Leave, and secured three days of telework for our employees in Trade.
Central to the mission of our Chapter is the pursuit of an improved workplace environment—one that elicits pride and fosters growth. While I acknowledge that I may not possess all the solutions nor an exhaustive understanding of the challenges at hand, I humbly invite your collaboration in these efforts. Should you encounter any issues, I encourage you to reach out to an NTEU Steward. Furthermore, if you harbor ideas aimed at enhancing the workday experience, please share them with a Steward. Should you cross paths with me, do not hesitate to engage me in conversation. I remain resolutely committed to being accessible throughout the port on a daily basis, receptive to addressing any concerns. Your welfare is my foremost priority, and my presence is a testament to this commitment.
In closing, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for the steadfast support you have provided. More significantly, I applaud each of you for your dedicated contributions on a daily basis. It is your collective efforts that form the bedrock of our Chapter's success.
